life lately

lately life seems to be flying by. it might have something to do with trying to take in everything we can now that the weather is so great, or maybe it's because i'm always on my toes waddling after a toddler, or it could be a combo of the two. micah is just so much fun right now, his personality is bursting and it's so fun discovering more about him every day. i am trying to treasure these last few weeks we have together just the two of us during the day while daddy is at work. some days can be so long but i always look for the bright moments during the day and try to stash those in the memory bank instead of the moments that i lost my cool because the 10th tantrum of the day was due to not ripping the toilet paper the correct way.

micah has decided that he wants to use the potty now and so he does. i am so proud of my little man and how he just decided one day that he wanted to wear 'daddy' underwear. there is still the odd accident here and there but over all he is doing an amazing job.

micah is a big help when it comes to watering the garden. he drag the hose all over and waters everything... everything! his slide gets a good washing almost daily because there is 'yucky poop' from the birds, the car also gets a good watering on a regular basis.he does also water the flowers and weeds and lawn. i also find myself getting sprayed regularly.

micah loves colouring, being at the shop, driving his bike, playing in his sand/water table, going for walks, hugging and kissing the baby, pretending to be a baby, blowing bubbles, barkley (the neighbours dog), and just being goofy! it is so much fun being his mom. i can't wait to see him in the role of big brother. i think he is going to do an amazing job!

i guess life lately is all about micah,

Micah is Two!

oh my sweet sweet boy, how can it be that you have been in our arms for two whole years? it seems like just yesterday that you were born, yet i can't even remember what life was like without you. you are such a sweet soul. you love nature and being outdoors as much as possible. you love your daddy something fierce, you try and mimic his every move. you also love this momma a heck of a lot. you are happiest when the three of us are together, 

your favourite place to be is at carman concrete. you love all the guys there and i'm pretty sure they love you... brap brap...  when we are driving you make sure to beep when we are backing up. you gag at the smell of your own poop. you love blowing bubbles, bbqing with daddy, painting with momma, stickers, feeding the birds, going for walks, and playing with barkley. if you have pockets there is no doubt your hand will be in them. you call hockey appido, and most things you say only daddy and i can understand. 

you are not a fan of getting your nose wiped, apple peels, or being out of arms reach of momma or daddy. you prefer showers to baths, could eat french fries for every meal, you love breakfast, puppies, chickens, rzr rides, and playing endless alphabet. you are a goof ball and love making people laugh. you are also very shy. you try not to look people in the face but make sure you can see them out of the corner of your eye so you can see if they are getting to close. 

you love giving baby brother/sister hugs, kisses and zerburts. when we go driving you also ask if baby is with us. you will make an excellent big brother! it brings me such joy to see you growing up to be such a caring boy but its also hard to see you growing up so fast! time needs to slow down. 

you are 28.5 lbs and 32 inches tall

micah i pray that you will always be loving and filled with joy. i pray that you will live out micah 6:8 and that you will always seek justice, love mercy and walk humbly. 

i thank God for picking us to be your parents. you teach us daily to be better people. 

we love you sweet boy! 

15 months

I thought you just turned one my sweet boy? But time is not my friend and the days slip away far to fast! 

Can I just say how much I love this age!? 

so.much.fun.

Micah you love animals! You know what they say and I hear a lot of mooing, woofing, chirping, baaing, and neighing in a day. 

You also love to run around calling for daddy all day. 

If I ask you if you want to go out side you immediately run to get your shoes and sit down to try and put them on. Once yours are on you grab my shoes too! You love being outside and fight when it's time to come in.

You love to share you snack with me, one bite for you one bite for me. 

If I ask you if your handsome you make a cheese face, which I have yet to snap a picture of.

You give the best hugs and kisses and I hope that never stops! 

There are three pearly whites in that little mouth of yours. 

When we go outside you make a bee line for your little car and 'drive around' in it for as long as you can before getting stuck. You have only figured out how to go backwards and usually end up in the garden. 

Speaking of the garden, you LOVE mud! I don't blame you, I do too! None of my rows are straight and things are popping up all over the place because a little mister decided to crawl through right after I seeded it. 

You make the cutest scrunched up face when you smell the flowers.

If I hear you scream it usually means that the neighbours dog has come over to play and you are so excited you can hardly contain yourself!

When there is music playing your bum is a bopping.

Mowing grass, vacuuming and sweeping are most exciting!

Tuesday mornings you climb up the chair to look out the window and watch the garbage trucks come down the street. 

My boy there are so many things I want to remember forever! The way you talk, the way hand me your blankie and point to the couch after a nap so we can snuggle, and the way love so deeply! 

micah vacuuming made me cry...

yes, its true.

my sweet boy was 'vcuuming' and i sat on the stairs watching and crying.
those of you who know me know that i cry pretty easily but this wasn't a 'oh my baby is growing up' moment.

i had just finished vacuuming the living room and had ran upstairs to grab something and when i cam back down this is what i saw.

he was very content 'vacuuming' so i sat on the stairs to watch him and that is when the tears started flowing.

you see this is how i vacuum:
- turn on the power by stepping on the power switch
- push the vacuum head around
- push the ball back and vacuum the next section

this is what micah did:
- reached his tiny foot up to turn the power on
- pushed the vacuum head around
- put the vacuum head down
- pushed the ball back
- proceeded to vacuum

what i saw was a mirror of what i had just done. my little boy had watched every detail of what i was doing and copied me. he had been playing with trucks while i vacuumed, i didn't even realize he was paying attention.

as i sat there and watched is tiny little foot reach up to hit the power button i was flooded with the realization of just how much impact we have on these tiny humans. he notices everything i am doing even when i don't realize it.

how blessed am i that God would entrust me, me, with this beautiful soul to raise up.

i am blown away!

it is not easy task and i need to look at myself first and make sure i am setting the example in all things and that starts by coming to the Lord in prayer and seeking His guidance and direction.

celebrating micah

people that know me know that i LOVE birthdays!

i love that each person gets a special day to be celebrated and loved on.

on micahs birthday the three of us hung out at home and enjoyed being together.

micah was very excited to get this barn and has played with it every day. he makes noises for all the animals and its hilarious!

over the weekend we had a big party for micah with family and friends.

micah was attached to my hip pretty much the whole time since he's not a fan of large groups of people, it was still great to celebrate him.

the party was a construction theme since micah loves trucks and cars and building blocks.

some of the activities that fit the theme were:

- the 'big' kids got work gloves, pretzels and mini marshmallows. they had to try and build a tower while wearing their gloves. i think that most of the 'building supplies' were eaten instead. 

 - pin the hammer on the builder

 - ring toss with pylons

auntie chloe was giving wagon rides, which was loads of fun!

now we just need nice weather so that we can go outside for wagon rides.

this little man was blessed beyond blessed with all the gifts he was given. 

he is so SO loved!

 some of his aunties got him some very 'musical' toys. i know of a few nieces that have upcoming birthday and they might get some 'musical' toys too!

 micah needed a break from opening gifts and being crowded. daddy saved the day by giving wagon rides for all the kids.

micah is so blessed to have so many family and friends that love him. we all had a great time eating, visiting and celebrating micah!

happy 1st birthday micah

my oh my where has the year gone?

my sweet 8lb 8oz baby boy is now a year old.

i thought for sure i would be a basket case today. crying every five minutes because my baby is growing up but instead i found myself with a grin from ear to ear and proud as could be. i am so in awe of the amazing little boy micah is becoming. 

micah loves:
animals
when daddy gets home
sharing
toy cars
big trucks driving by
toilet plunger
nursing
cuddling
crackers
the washing machine
peanut butter

micah doesn't like:
big crowds
being alone
milk
napping
diaper changes
putting clothes on

micah is very good at crawling, walking along furniture, standing, climbing up and down stairs, making people laugh, peek-a-boo and figuring out how things work.

this baby still has a toothless grin that makes me weak in the knees!

micah likes to babble and sometimes gets out what he is trying to say.
some words he can say:
- dada
- mama
- nini (night night)
- baa baa - thats what most animals say
he also signs:

- please
- milk

micah has many names! - mikey, baby micah, baby mikey, little man, baby bird, baby bear, peanut and many more!

our world was turned upside down when you were born. this past year has been the most amazing, rewarding, sleepless, tear filled of our lives and we wouldn't change a second of it!

i pray that the Lord will bless us with many more amazing years with you micah!

Nursing

I have absolutely loved the nursing journey Micah and I have had. I love how close it has made us. I love that those big cubby cheeks, squishy belly, and yummy thighs grew because of me. I love that we have quiet time together. I love being able to hold my baby. I love the cuddles. I love that my body gave life and sustained life. 

I have always wanted to nurse my babies but I never realized how hard it would be to stop. Micah turns one next week (someone hold me) and I want to start weaning him. I don't want to stop altogether but just cut back a bit. I have tried a few times and I just can't do it! 

 

The emotional bond is so strong and I just don't want that to be broken. How do I go about this? It stresses me out thinking about it. I get all teary eyed (ball my eyes out) when I think about it. 

This is more of a vent/ getting my thoughts out. But if you have any advice I'd love to hear. I know this can be a controversial topic so please only leave kind words.  

this kid

this kid makes cabin fever so much easier. how blessed am i that i get to be his momma?  

he loves to make silly faces and noises. he loves making other people laugh. 

he loves being held, and clings on like a monkey. 

he loves playing with cars and blocks.

he likes to throw his food on the floor. 

he likes to climb stairs.

he likes going for sled rides. 

he likes licking his plate. 

he does not like the vacuum.

he does not like loud noises.

he does not like being alone.
