We've been cooking something up {apron swap}

We (Beth from Dot in the City and Amber from Life Unscripted) have been making fun plans behind your back! (hee hee) Don't worry though, we are about to spill the beans and share the secret we have been cooking up just for you! Without further ado, we would like to present to you...

We find that we cook and bake more than ever during the autumn months, so swapping an apron and  a few other goodies is a perfect and fun way to meet others!

Here are the guidelines to participate in this perfect-for-autumn swap:

1. Sign up by completing this form so that your swapper will know your snail mail address, favorite colors, fabrics and little bit more about you!  Sign up starts today and will be open to October 6.
2. Spread the word. Post the swap button (below) via instagram, tweet, facebook - the more the merrier! 
3. Start shopping or sewing. The apron you send can be thrifted, handmade or store bought - you will get your swapping partner info by October 10.
4. Wrap up your goodies and mail them by October 17.
5. *patiently* wait for your goodies to arrive!

valentines gift swap

so i joined in on the fun valentines swap that caroline and alyssa put on.
i got paired up with the sweet karen from celebrate life and she also has an adorable shop k. davis creates. you must go check both her blog and shop out.

i received my package exactly on valentines day and i was so so excited to open it!
i had no idea what could be inside.
i ran to my friends office and she wanted to rip it open too but i wanted to take pictures.such cute wrapping!
when i first opened it all i saw was mustard and i instantly fell in love
then i realized it was the cutest cowl i have ever set eyes on and was even m.o.r.e. excited!
and
wrapped inside the cowl was another cutely wrapped package
oh my goodness! i was grinning from ear to ear!

snot and gum

sorry it's been quite this week but i have been looking like this...

guess what i did this weekend?!?

went shopping for my wedding dress!!
it was crazy, fun, overwhelming, tiring, full of static, and memorable.i didn't pick the dress but i do have it narrowed down to two.
the only problem is that they are so different from each other,
i like and love things about both of them!
it is going to be a very tough decision!
i wish i could post the pictures on here and have you vote but,
i don't want some curious eyes stumbling upon it.

what was your experience like when you went wedding dress shopping?
i am also planning on doing a series on weddings in the new year.

it's friday friday gotta get down on friday

happy friday friends!let's celebrate by lighting some sparklers,
i still jump away from the sparks,
even though i know they won't do anythingthis cluster of candles is my make shift fireplace to keep me cozy.
chapel this week we did a condensed version of advent, sang Christmas carols, it was lovely.i pick up a latte and finished my last set of questions for class,
now to finish off my final paper.
that latte kept me up far to late though,
you think i'd learn not to drink caffeinated beverages after nine.the last set of reading that we did for class were really intense and so our prof brought coffee, Christmas oranges, and other yummy goodies.
i also got to visit with a good friend while we watch basketball.
she's a goof and so much fun to be with.
those books are my future final paper.of course i did some wedding planning this week :)
this silly cat was playing with this bag on the kitchen table (ick i know) but he jumped inside, flung back, fell off the table and continued to walk around with it stuck around his neck.

decorative gingerbread men

I have a super cute and easy Christmas craft that makes your house smell yummmy!
They are little gingerbread men...they smell great but would be gross to eat, even though they look yummy.
~recipe~
~ .5 cup salt
~ .5 cup white flour
~ 4-5 tbsp cinnamon
~ 1 tbsp nutmeg
~ water

~mix the dry ingredients together
~add water one tbsp at a time add enough water so that you get a play-dough texture
~lightly dust the surface you are working on with cinnamon
~plop the dough on the dusted surface and roll the dough out to approx 1/4 inch thickness,
not to thin or they will be to fragile after they are baked
~use a cookie cutter to get the shapes you want, i use gingerbread men but stars, stockings, bears, and snowflakes or whatever you have would be fun too
~add a little hole with a straw on top so you can put string through and hang them
~bake them at 200 degrees for 2.5 hours... they NEED to be fully dry or they just break apart
~after they are cooled you can decorate them if you wish
i hot glued some buttons on some or you can paint them too

they smell super yummy and look super cute

coconut latte

the other day i got a coconut latte
y.u.m....
i usually stick to the same three: caramel, chai, and pumpkin spice (for this time of year)
well i went out of my comfort zone and tried something new and it was so yummy!!

i tried to make my own version at home.
toast up some coconut
make some yummy espresso
set the toasted coconut aside
warm up some milk or soy milk and froth it
- my frothers batteries are dead so i whisked the heck out of it
you can also add sugar or honey if you like

pour it into a mug and top with coconut and enjoy!!

microwave apple crisp

Microwave apple crisp is such a simple yummy dessert.

what ya need:

apple
1 tsp brown sugar
1 tbsp rolled oats
1 tsp butter

what ya do:

core the apple and cut in half
in the middle put the butter, sugar, and oats
stick it in the micro wave for a minute or two

serve with frozen yogurt or ice cream

enjoy!

fall inspiration

I was looking around online the other day while it was raining out and I was snuggled up inside.

i moved!

hi friends!

as you know i moved!
so far it has been tons of fun finding places for everything and decorating and setting up my crafting area :)

moving day was very wet and rainy.which made for some fun getting everything into the house without making a mess.

my car was packed to the brim and my mom had a whole truck load too.once everything was in the house and i was tired of unpacking clint and i played bananagrams and drank tea.
probably the best way to spend the first evening there.

It was busy and fantastic!
