i hope everyone had a fantastic time ringing in the new year.
i had a fun time playing games with the soon to be sibling- in- laws,
or whatever the correct term is.
i am so looking forward to this year!
it is going to be a year of big changes for me and i am so pumped about it!
often times people make resolutions for the new year and i have done that in the past.
this year i think i am going to make a list.
i like lists.
i work through lists often.
so here is my list of 12 for 2012!

12. grow an herb garden
11. cook my way through a cook book
10. complete my granny square afghan
9. sell my handmade goodies at a craft sale
8. improve my sewing skills
7. go winter camping
6. travel somewhere new
5. go to a Jets game

2. graduate with my ba from providence university college

welcome fall

hello friends!

wow!

well its hard to believe that school is in full swing yet again. however there were a few changes made. i am not a student this semester. it turns out that the class that i was told repeatedly that i needed in order to graduate is no longer being offered. i had been left in the dark about it. so i get to take a replacement class that is only offered next semester along with the other two classes that i am taking.

so job hunting begins....again.

i am however living on campus with one of my friends in a basement suite and it is sweet. hee hee. we have had a blast decorating, organizing and having friends over.

i am now officially a vegetarian!

i am very excited about this. this is my first tiem living on my own so that i am able to cook for myself and not be an inconvenience to cook for. so i am being a veggie. so far so good.

alot of people ask me why i would want to be a vegetarian and i say why not? i am not planning on doing it for life. i just want to try it out for a year and cross it off my list of things to do.

doing more - stepping out in faith

earlier this summer alana, my bestie since we were knee high to a grasshopper, and i were planning what exciting things to do next summer.
last summer we road tripped it to Montreal and Quebec City. it was an amazing time we sight saw, shopped, got to do a photo shoot, and relax.
we both love to travel, so travel was what we wanted to do!
we decided that the southern states would be the place to go as we have both never been there.

but with all that has gone on this past week God has laid it on my heart to do something more.


instead of just traveling and being a tourist, why not put our able bodies to work and
help others
while being down there.
my heart aches for those who have lost so much in the past from such horrific storms and then they loose it all again.


so what am i able to do.
i want to give.
i love to give.
i am not able to give financially.
so why not give of the time and energy that God has blessed me with?

i have been feeling lead to serve with MDS - mennonite disaster service, but have just never followed that calling. so why not this time?
i need to listen to God calling me to step out in faith.

so
from now til next summer 100% of the sales in my shop will go towards this trip. i may not be placed in exactly the areas that hurricane irene has hit but i will be placed where there is help needed. if for whatever reason i am unable to go all the money will go directly to MDS to help aid in the many service projects they are apart of.

granny square afghan

Good morning friends!

I have been working on a collection of granny squares slowly since school started last fall.
I decided that I wanted to make an afghan so that's what I'm working towards. So far I am loving it. I finished putting a cream ring around each one and laid it out. I'm thinking that I will be needing to make some more granny squares to make it a bigger size. Good thing they are super wast to make and perfect for using up ends of yarn.

crochet goodies

Happy Monday!

Sorry I have been slacking with the crafting posts as of late. Summer is just a busy time especially when there are beautiful summer days to enjoy and active kids that want to enjoy them with.

I will probably slow down blogging for the summer to enjoy the time outside and with family and friends. But no worries I will still be around just not as frequently.

Moving along.

I have been an a crocheting kick recently. Does anyone else go through phases of crafting?
Well I have been working on my granny square afghan. I have decided that I want the last ring around to be the same for each square so I'm just working my way through that, then it just needs to be put together! I am very excited! It will also cross off one of my 25 by 25 goals once it is done. (I will post pictures, eventually)

I bought some new yarns last week. I got a little excited and made a slouchy that was going to go into the shop but I kinda fell in love with it.

I have also been trying to use up some smaller balls of yarn that I have laying around. I feel guilty buying more when I still have a bunch. That's probably for the better. So to use up my scarps I have been slowly working on another afghan.

It gets used every once in a while. I'm excited for this one to get finished too.
I recently thrifted some amazing chairs and I want them both to have companions.

Happy happy Tuesday friends!

I'm super duper excited because I have an interview lined up this week. So I hope that it will go well and that I get a job.

Yesterday was so nice outside so we had a bbq, my favorite!! I also spent all day out side with Clint's nephews. We jumped on the trampoline, tried to catch bugs (tried being the key word), played basketball and sun tanned. I think it was the best way to spend the day and enjoy the sun.

Also with each gift that I make I am working my way through my 25 by 25 list. Also I will be opening an Etsy shop soon. I will keep you posted on when it will be opening because I'm not entirely sure yet myself.

25 by 25 Update

Good day lovelies!

Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend. I know I did. I had plans on posting pics of the weekend and sharing but I forgot my camera in Clint's truck so that will be another day.

You may have seen up in my tab bar that one is titled '25 by 25' you can read about it here. I have slowly been working on a few of those goals. Over the winter I have been working on granny squares, they are just the easiest things to make and I'm hoping to turn them into a lovely afgan.

Aren't those colours just the most beautiful?! I just love them! I laid them out so I could bask in their beauty. I also wanted to see how much I had, the total is 88 thus far. I have a feeling that I won't make them for a while since it is now spring and crocheting is just not really a spring or summer pass time but who knows.

Also I have a question for ya. How do you put the squares together? If you know any good tutorials or something let me know please. I would really appreciate it.

happy monday

well missio dei has come and gone. there were tons of great artsy things made for the art auction. my pile of cards shrunk, which is a great thing because it means that a a bit more money was raised to go toward the building of a home for a family in need.

i just got back from sledding... pitch black + ice covered snow + two foot drop off = ouch!
time to warm up and get some sleep.

cards and candy

today was the kick off to Missio Dei which is an event that goes on at my college. they are having an art sale and i was asked to make cards to sell, all the proceeds are going to build a house where it is much needed. so of course i wanted to help out. here is a pile of the cards i made. when i have more time i'll post pics of the cards.


it was lots of fun making the cards. i'm excited to see them get sold, it will be the first time i've ever made something to sell and what better way to start selling some stuff then to have the money go to an amazing cause. so i guess this checks off one of my 25 by 25 goals. woo hoo!! only 24 more to go.

so i've been snowed in at my boyfriend's, which i haven't minded at all. his niece and nephews have been here and its been fun hanging out with them. i was browsing the web a bit and came across the idea of making a goals list. sooo i made a 25 by 25 goals list. 25 goals by my 25th birthday which is november 30, 2014.
